Many affiliate marketers think that if they find a popular product to sell that it will sell itself. Not true. While deciding to market a popular product is critical, what you do after your product selection determines success or failure. If your work doesn't include excellent content writing about the product you're marketing, than you are setting yourself up for failure.

You will need to know about your product, the kind of content to write, and where and how to market both your product and the content. There are many areas to consider when writing content; but the following, though simple, is a way to get started.

Articles
  • High-quality articles establish you as an expert and as someone who other people will want to do business with. Publishing articles that are engaging and well thought out shows your target audience that you have the answers and solutions that they are looking for.
  • It is important to note that the products you are selling are the same products that hundreds of affiliates are selling. It is also worthy to note that there are thousands, if not millions, of people selling similar products that are in competition with you.
  • You need to stand out from the millions of other people who are writing articles based on the same topics. You will want to write in such a way that it separates you from the others. Your writing needs to show your audience that you are an expert in your field. This will begin to build a relationship with your readers.
  • Once your readers can trust your written word, they can begin to trust the products and recommendations that you make.
  • Article writing should be written with keywords that will help you rank higher in search engines, thus giving you more exposure.
Newsletters
  • Newsletters are ideal for affiliate marketers who sell a variety of related products.
  • When written correctly, newsletters help build lasting relationships. Good newsletters address information that your subscribers need to know. By sending out interesting and informative product developments, people will begin to trust you. Many affiliate marketers get their repeat business through newsletters.
  • Newsletters are also a way to sell a variety of products. People who sign up for one product, sign up via email, thereby signing up to receive information for all of your products.
  • As long as you build a steady relationship with your subscribers, the sales will come. And, over time, you'll add more subscribers, thereby increasing your profits.
  • An affiliate marketer must build and keep an email subscriber lists. Without it it is unlikely that you or your company will survive.
  • Newsletters can be written and sent out directly by you using a program such as Microsoft Publisher, or by purchasing a subscription to a company specializing in this area.
Blog
  • Many affiliate marketers try to gain customers with nothing more than a landing page. You need to set yourself apart by building a website that includes a blog.
  • Blog writing is an avenue that offers you a way to share your knowledge and expertise with others. It is a great way to piece together valuable for your customers or potential customers.
  • Having a blog that people can check out increases your visibility and allows opportunities to subscribe to you via email.
  • Blog writing is also a way to let your personality show. Blogs are a great way for people to think of you as a real person behind the product.
  • In addition, every time you update your blog, you update your website, thereby updating the search engines.
eBook
  • A short eBook can be an incentive for people to sign up for your email list. It's something that you only have to write once, and if it's good, your eBook will generate subscribers, thereby generating sales.
  • Writing your eBook with useful and legitimate information, and giving it out for free, helps your readers become more comfortable about your level of expertise. This will set you apart from the many thousands of affiliate marketers.
Videos
  • Having the right marketing technique on video while sharing important information and updates with your target audience is a way to build your credibility.
  • When people can actually see and hear the person behind the product, it helps legitimize you.
  • To be more successful than your competitors you need to understand your audience. This isn't always easy, but if you don't think about your customer, you are sure to lose your credibility.
  • Stay focused and on-topic.
  • The key is to make sure that your video presents you and the product that you are marketing in a good light. That means looking credible, having a compelling and well-researched video script, and speaking with confidence. Be sure to make eye contact with your audience!
